Contributing Scholars
Two groups of biblical language scholars have
served to help the ISV Foundation craft the text of the International
Standard Version.
-
Producers of an initial base translation of
the text, working directly from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
The ISV base translation is then reworked by the ISV's Committee on
Translation, which produces a Scholarly Review Text of the ISV.
-
Review Scholars, who provide comments on the
Scholarly Review Text of the ISV, which are then reworked by the COT into
an English Review Text, which is what you'll find published here on our
web site.
Here's an alphabetical list of scholars who
contributed to the Base Translation of the
Holy Bible: International Standard Version.
Dr.
Archer (1916-2004) was one of the fifty original translators of the
NASB published in 1971. He
also worked on the team which translated the
NIV Bible published in 1978. His
defense of the doctrine of
Biblical inerrancy by proposing harmonizations and
exegesis regarding alleged contradictions in the Bible made Archer
a well known biblical inerrantist. Dr. Archer believed “One cannot
allow for error in history-science without also ending up with error
in doctrine.” He was critical of the
documentary hypothesis which denies the
Mosaic authorship of the
Pentateuch. One of Dr. Archer's last contributions to the Christian
community before going home to be with the Lord was his rendering of
the base translation of a portion of the book of Daniel
for the Holy Bible:
International Standard Version. |
